S04 E06 A Chat About Civil Rights with the Hon. James L. Felder

The Hon. James L. Felder has the distinction of being the first African American voted into the South Carolina legislature since the Reconstruction Period. He also has the distinction of being selected to head the casket team for the late President John F. Kennedy in November 1963 while Felder was enlisted in the U.S. Army.

We spent the hour discussing:

  • the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s through today;
  • the time directly after President John F Kennedy was shot to his burial;
  • the funeral of Medgar Evers; and
  • the Civil Rights movement in South Carolina.
