Others are intent on researching the lives of those who were either enslaved by the institutions or by academics and university senior management – including finding the descendants of the enslaved. some universities have erected monuments to the memories of the enslaved – or plan to do so. In this episode, we chat with our special guest, African American Research and genealogist Shelley Murphy, about a special project in Virginia – the University of Virginia’s Memorial to Enslaved Laborers.
